Hillis, Allen Graham, 26, of Wichita, KS lost his life and his battle with addiction on Saturday June 9th, 2018. Allen is survived by his son Graham Hillis; his loving father, Ed Hillis; sisters, Courtney McClure and Nichole Hanson; stepmother, Donna Roth Hillis; stepsister, Shanna Heinz; stepbrother, Chris Roth; and brothers in law, Craig Hanson, Matthew McClure, and Bart Heinz. He is also survived by Kristin Renteria, the mother of his son. Allen had a contagious smile and a sparkle in his eye. He loved family and food and often the two went hand in hand, with Sunday evenings on the patio or grabbing lunch with his parents during the day. Allen had the most giving heart. He was always trying to help others and often gave more than he had for himself. He had many blessings in his life. He was kind, generous, always had a great outlook, good friendships and a family who dearly loved him. Unfortunately, there was no amount of love that could cure this disease. We hardly ever know the decisions we make that change our lives, mostly because they are little ones. A single action can cause a life to veer off in a direction it was never meant to go. It can forever alter a person’s compass, leading them down a path that not only can destroy them but those that love and care for them. Drugs slowly took a hold of Allen’s life, changed him, and ripped away at his potential and his future. His life was taken much too early, but he is not defined by these choices. Allen’s struggle is over and he is now at peace. He was loved by many who will continue to cherish his memories. Our broken hearts will forever know his absence. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 10:30am at Resthaven, 11800 W Hwy 54, Wichita, KS 67209. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to www.shatterproof.com in memory of Allen Hillis. It is our hope that through Allen’s death, he can continue to help others. Nobody asks or wants to be an addict. The obstacles of shame, fear, and loneliness must be overcome. Those suffering are so much more than their addiction.
