Alvin L. Gregg, age 84, retired Professor of English and Linguistics at WSU and Associate Minister at Central Christian Church, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018. Alvin was born on September 29, 1933 in Littlefield, Texas, the son of the late Herman and Betty Anne (Keele) Gregg. On July 4, 1958, he married Joyce Anne Stapp in Olney, TX. Alvin graduated from Texas Tech University with his Master’s Degree and later earned his PhD from The University of Texas. Alvin worked as a Professor of English and Linguistics at Wichita State University, where he later retired in 1998. After retirement, Alvin was an Associate Minister at Central Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Joyce; children, Gavin and wife, Mona Gregg, Charissa and husband, Kim Schmidt, and Lane and wife, Jenifer Gregg; grandchildren, Grant and wife, Krysta Schmidt, Kara and husband, Cody Boone, Hannah Schmidt, Nathaniel, Grace, Caleb, Tyler, Eden, Madison, and Shyan Gregg; great grandchildren, Kaiden, Colton, and Ellie Schmidt. Memorial service will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Central Christian Church Worship Center.
