Alvin Lee James, 77, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice - Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born September 26, 1948, in Silverton, Texas, the son of Alvin Ware and Dorothy Mae (Coffey) James.
Alvin worked many years at Boeing Aviation in Wichita, Kansas, where he did tool coordination. His career with Boeing spanned for 47 years.
Alvin was a faithful member of LifeChange Church in East Wichita.
Alvin was always on the go, as he enjoyed playing poker, cornhole, dominoes, horseshoe, bowling, and shuffleboard. While playing horseshoe, he was a forty-two champion and a one time "Boss of the Toss." As he was super competitive, he loved to win, but with winning or losing, he always did it with class.
As a devoted member of the Masons, he was a 33rd degree Mason with the Wichita Scottish Rite and was a past member of the Mulvane Lodge. Alvin will be remembered as a model for patience and kindness.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Dub and Dorothy James; his brothers, Jimmy James and Jimmy Ray Zachary; along with his nephew, Jake James.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Karen (Cooper) James; his children, Daryl (Mona) James, Tammy (Mike) Thomas, and Jeremy (Karla) James; and his 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Public Visitation & Viewing will be held from 6:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026; Funeral Service will be 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 13, 2026, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Freedom, Wichita.
