Tony immigrated to the U.S. from the Netherlands at age 14 with his mother, father, and 5 siblings. He had fond memories of his childhood in the Netherlands, skating to school on the frozen canals and working in the tulip fields near the world famous Keukenhof Gardens. While picking apples at Wichita’s Blood Orchard, he put himself through the engineering program at WSU to earn his Mechanical Engineering Degree. His career started at Creonite and ended as Senior VP of Engineering at Wescon Products, where he received multiple patents. His work all over the world resulted in lifelong friendships. He used his leadership skills and desire to help people in organizations such as Beginning Experience and as a Dale Carnegie Instructor. Tony was a role model to many and with his relentless energy, creative problem solving and adventuresome, loving spirit, no challenge was too difficult. Some of his favorite pastimes were competitive sailing on Lake Cheney, riding his Harley, skiing, and travelling. He became a Master Gardener after retirement and enjoyed taking on landscaping and gardening projects, big and small. His marriage to Sue Kelley in 1960 resulted in 4 children--Dan, David, Liz, and Jimmy. He married Barbara Graham in 2005 and loved spending time with her, his children, and with his three granddaughters, Lauren, Haley, and Madison. His bright, curious, and loving spirit will be missed by all.
