Arnold J. Tye

Arnold left the farm to join the Army and served in Korea, earning a Purple Heart. He then began a career at Boeing that lasted 40 years in Tool and Die. Upon retirement, Arnold enjoyed gathering with other veterans, often traveling to Love Company reunions, which he helped organize. He was also instrumental in the planning and building of the Korean War Memorial in the Wichita Veterans Memorial Park. Arnold had a deep respect for the Korean people that was reciprocated by those in the local Korean community.

In addition to the veteran community, Arnold found friendship in the Lincoln Meadows apartment community, and late in life, at the Plazzio Freddy’s, where he visited daily for lunch. He had a regular booth and proudly shared that the team would start his order as soon as they saw him park.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Anna (Strasser) Tye, brothers Francis and Ray, sisters Mary Louise and JoAnn, and sister in law Beverly. He is survived by sister in law Ermeen Tye, nephews and niece Mike Tye, Robert and Holly Tye, Leigh Tegenkamp (Tye), Dan and Teresa Tye, and great nieces and nephews, as well as by dear friends Gayle and Joe Jarvis, Joel and Tailor LaMadline and their children Adam and Olivia, Tim and Mary Woodburn and their sons, Benedict, Maximilian, John Paul, and Ignatius.

Arnold’s friends would like to thank the dedicated staffs of Dove Estates and Regent Park for their care, the Church of the Magdalen parishioners who brought Arnold Holy Communion at Regent Park, and the caring, friendly team at Plazzio Freddy’s.

A rosary for Arnold will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, 18218 US-54, Goddard, KS 67052, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Lunch to follow. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
