Ava Grace “Sue” Hopper, age 100, passed away on July 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Delany, Arkansas, to Morgan Faubus and Lona (Newlon) Faubus.
Ava devoted her life to caring for her family, a role she cherished above all else. She shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Milford Hopper. Together they enjoyed simple pleasures, including attending garage sales in search of bargains and collecting treasures to resell at their large annual garage sale. Ava also had a special love for animals and treasured the many pets she cared for throughout her life.
She was a faithful member of Church Today Ministries and found joy in genealogy, gardening, cooking, and sewing. Ava's curiosity about family history, her creative talents, and her generous spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Ava is survived by her children, Betty Marshall, Sandra Sales, John Hopper (Lisa), and Pamela Gray; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who were a continual source of pride and joy in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Morgan and Lona Faubus; her four siblings; her husband, Milford Hopper; and her son, Michael Hopper.
Ava will be remembered for her loving heart, dedication to family, strong faith, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion will live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
A Come & Go Visitation will be from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, July 22nd, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street N., Wichita, Kansas 67206.
Funeral Service for Ava will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, July 23rd, with visitation an hour prior, at Lakeview Funeral Home.
Those wishing to honor Ava's memory may make memorial contributions to the Kansas Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
