Barbara Ann Anderson born Sept 20, 1935 in Ellinwood before Wichita. Went to East High School where with her magnetic personality started making some of her lifetime friends. She cared for her mother in high school among her many interests. Parents Donna and Edna Hamker with sister Janeen and brother Gary. At WSU she joined Delta Gamma which would turn out to be al lifetime of responsibilities, service and joy. She met her husband, Don Anderson at WSU where he was attending after his Naval service. They had three children, Holly, Jeramy and Grant, of which they were very proud. While they attended high school, she became a regional director for Delta Gamma and held other such offices helping organize different houses and how meetings are held even today. She loved her part and contribution she made to Delta Gamma.
Both my parents found joy playing a part in Wichita community board groups. After working in the Pulmonary Dept at St Joseph Hospital she had an opportunity to become the receptionist at Wichita Center for the Arts. She flourished there. While my father's artistic gifts came alive in the classes offered by the center, their relationship flourished and began enjoying riding their Harleys around the country with their group of Mike's Harley Shop on West Kellogg. They cherished that group, the group at the center, their fraternity and sorority groups and WSU Alumni. They were great teachers and mentors to so many in our community. At the core of who my mother was, was the best mother in the world. How could I be so lucky. Everyday in every way Barbara was a great Lady the likes we'll never see again. She passed Sept 5, 2024 and like her husband, both were laid to rest together for that last ride on each their birthdays.
Barbara is survived by her children, Holly, Jeramy, and Grant. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Donald E. Anderson.
