

James Barry Ellis, age 72 of Andover, Kansas, passed away peacefully on July 7, surrounded by his loving family. Barry was a faithful servant of God, a devoted husband, father, Papa and friend. Barry lived a life marked by kindness, purpose, and passion.
Born on March 6, 1953, Barry built a life rooted in strong values; faith, family, and hard work. As the proud owner of Money Town Pawnshop, Barry welcomed everyone, not just as customers, but as friends. Known for his honesty, generosity, and steady presence, he became a trusted figure in the community and always ready to lend a hand, offer sound advice, or simply listen when someone needed to be heard.
When he wasn't working, Barry loved to spend time boating with his family and friends in the beauty of God’s creation. He was an avid fisherman, even the fish loved him because he always threw them back to catch another day. Barry was a talented and passionate drummer and played in the church band for many years. Throughout his life he also played in many bands that played in Wichita and the surrounding area.
Above all else, Barry cherished his family and friends. He was a man of unshakable faith, solid character, and a heart that never wavered. He was a man of his word, and you could always count on him.
Barry was united in Heaven by his parents, Jimmy and Norma Ellis.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jonna Ellis, who was his partner in life and faith for 43 years; his children, Spencer Ellis and Kasey Ellis; his grandson, Elijah Ellis, who brought him endless joy, and his sister, Kim Brier. Also, all the many dear friends and extended family who will miss his warm presence every day.
A Celebration of Life for Barry will be held on Monday, August 4th at 10:00 AM at Hope Community Church, located at 1831 E. 21st Street N., Andover, Kansas 67002.
