Mathis, Bessie Ann (Armstrong), 83, of West Frankfort, IL, formerly of Wichita, KS passed away at 6:45 p.m., Sunday, July 8, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Mt. Vernon. Bessie was born February 12, 1929 in Radom, IL to John Perry and Minnie M. (Johnson) Armstrong. She married Elmer Albert Mathis. He preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by four sons, Donald and Perry Mathis of Zeigler, Albert Mathis of West Frankfort and Josh Mathis of Wichita, KS; a daughter, Alene Stephenson of Wichita, KS; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and two sisters, Lillie Oskerdock of Chicago and Jean Jelly of Wichita, KS. Her parents; a son, Richard Dean Mathis; 7 sisters and two brothers, also preceded her in death. She worked over 20 years at Coleman Industries in Wichita and was a homemaker. Visitation will be Sunday, July 15 from 2-4 pm. Funeral service and burial for Mrs. Mathis will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 16 both at Resthaven Mortuary.
