Betty G. Nixon
September 1, 1928 – August 7, 2018
Betty Gene Nixon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on August 7th at the age of 89. She was born in the tiny town of Dill City, Oklahoma in 1928. Raised on the family farm with her five sisters, she met Leon Yarnell when she was in her first year of nursing school. They got married and moved to Wichita where they raised their family of five. Leon passed away at an early age, leaving Betty with children from ages 9 months to 15 years of age. She went to night school to get secretarial skills and worked at the General Aviation District Office. It was there that Betty met another widower, Charles Nixon. They married in 1972 and he became a beloved part of their family. Charles passed away in 2011.
An avid gardener, cook, and homemaker, Betty is survived and will be missed by daughter, Teresa (Tony) Nucci; son, Terry (Sue) Yarnell; daughter, Laurie (Lance) Pierce; daughter, Kay (Dale) Shelite; son, Tim (Tammy) Yarnell and step-daughter, Carol (Ron) Springstee;, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at Resthaven Mortuary on August 11th at 10:00 am.
