Beverly S. Thornton, age 88, of Wichita, Kansas died peacefully in her sleep early Saturday, August 13, 2022 in the morning after a long battle with COPD. Beverly was born January 31, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama to William and Nettie Stamps.
She was on the board of Botanica and headed up the Carousel Committee. She was known as Mrs Botanica and she held several board meetings in her back yard which was named “Little” Botanica for its beauty. She was also past President of Project Beauty personally planting 100s of flowers in Wichita. Her husband was Verne Thornton who was past potentate of the Shrine.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Verne Thornton,one sister Shirley Crauswall, one brother William Stamps.
She is survived by her two daughters Lisa Beth Wadsworth and Rebecca Brandewyne, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her funeral is this Friday August 19th at 3 p.m at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209 with graveside service to follow at Resthaven Gardens of memory.
