He passed away on April 15th, 2025, at the age of 39 in Wichita, KS, leaving behind a legacy as a brother to Melissa, Elizabeth, Cindie, Sean Mattson, Austin, and Colton Hopkins.
A graduate of Rider High School in Wichita Falls, TX, he found love and companionship with Liberty, whom he met at Langley Air Force Base. His dedication to his country was evident through his service from 2003 to 2018, achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant and receiving an honorable discharge. His career took him to Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, VA, Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV, and McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS, where he utilized his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing as a Registered Nurse before transitioning to an instructor role at Avcon Electronics.
In his leisure time, he had a passion for animals, electronics, video games, reading, and continuous learning. His caring nature extended to his work as a traveling nurse, his enthusiasm for aircraft, and his love for hiking. Known for his great enthusiasm and sarcasm, he also enjoyed gardening and nurturing his bonsai trees. His inner child cherished Zero and Turbo Power Rangers, and he held dear his favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 24:3, “There is nothing stronger than a broken man who has rebuilt himself.”
Among his cherished quotes were, “If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything” and “You are the most genius man I know!” His heart of gold empowered him to be a devoted son and brother, a patriot, and a mentor to many. His spirit will be remembered with the words of the Power Rangers, "May the Power Protect You."
Survived by his parents, Scott and Lisa Hopkins, and siblings, Austin and Colton Hopkins, Sean (Melissa) Mattson, Melissa, Elizabeth, and Cindie, he now reunites with Nelda Mattson. His cat Lucy, affectionately called “Big Squishy,” will also miss him deeply.
