Colleen “JoAnn” Skelton was born in Girard, KS on April 23, 1931, and passed to heaven on October 11, 2018 at age 87. Early in her life, JoAnn served her country in the United States Navy before devoting herself to homemaking and motherhood. After the early passing of her husband, Bob, related to sequela of Parkinson’s disease, she returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Friends University. After graduation, JoAnn worked as a dedicated employee for KOCH Industries in the IT Dept. She enjoyed genealogy and became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She also was an avid NFL fan (Go Patriots!) and played a mean game of Bunco.
JoAnn had an unwavering faith in God and was a member of Central Community Church. In association with the church, she became a member of a Care Ring where she shared a deep affection for everyone affiliated with her group. She resided at Avita Senior Living in Wichita for the last several years of her life where she developed many cherished friendships.
JoAnn was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert “Bob” G. Skelton. She was also predeceased by her two brothers, George and Gene and her four sisters, Ethel, Dorothy, Denee, and Mary Alice. JoAnn is survived by her daughter Robin Skelton and Bryan Fanning and her daughter Mary Pinkham and her husband, Mitch.
The family will celebrate JoAnn’s life with an intimate grave site service, time and date to be determined. Lakeview Funeral Home. A memorial in her name has been established with the National Parkinson Foundation at www.parkinson.org.
