Calvin "Cal" Preston Marlow 93, was born to Lela and Randolph Marlow, January 1, 1923 in Black, Alabama. He went to his heavenly Rest on November 13, 2016. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Lela and Randolph, siblings Eva Mae Whitehead and Grover "Guy" Marlow, his wife, Patricia "Pat" Marlow, daughter, Gloria Charlene Marlow. He is survived by 5 children, daughter, Jean Googe and her husband Jerry, daughter, Linda Moseley and her husband James, son, Robert Johnson, son, Greg Marlow and his wife Sherry, daughter Gail Starnes and her husband Don, 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Cal was an ordained minister, watchmaker, jeweler and aircraft engineer. He was a pastor, evangelist, teacher, and church pioneer. Through the years he and his wife helped start many churches. In today's terms he would be considered a church planter. He and his brother owned a jewelry store together. Later Cal and his wife, Pat owned Marlow's Jewelers in Smyrna, Tennessee as well as a game room called, Pat's Family Amusement Center. Cal was a Chief Engineer and Tool designer for multiple aircraft companies. He led large teams and worked on projects such as fighter jets, Apollo projects, commercial airliners, B1, B2 and many more. Interestingly, he did not fly unless he had no other choice. He retired from aircraft in 1995 to move to Kansas and take his final ministry job working for Freedom Challenge. Cal was a gifted story-teller. His love of words and great use of them made for great stories and long conversations. But they always seem to find their way back to the great love of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will be missed deeply but we know he is in the presence of the one he taught us all to love. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Resthaven Mortuary.
