Carol was born on February 23, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas to the late Harold Folks and Francis Folks (Brouyette). Carol graduated high school in 1970 from Judson High School in Scottsdale, Arizona, but spent most of her high school days at Southeast High School, Wichita, Kansas. Carol also earned an associate degree in business from Solano Community College in Fairfield, California.
Throughout her life Carol always had an entrepreneurial spirit and started two different businesses: Scully and Associates and Keystrokes. She made a career change later in life to become a flight attendant with Southwest Airlines. She loved being a flight attendant and interacting with so many different people across the country. Carol never knew a stranger and would become your friend in an instant even into her last days on this earth. Carol was passionate about life, her family, and her friends. She loved fiercely, lived loudly, and never gave up until the very end! Carol’s favorite movie was “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and she felt it related to her well because she had truly lived a wonderful life.
Carol met the love of her life, Jim Scully when he was stationed at McConnell AFB flying the KC-135. They were married in 1977 and enjoyed almost forty-three years together, before he passed away in 2021. Carol supported Jim during his different deployments and the many bases he was stationed at throughout his career. Carol and Jim spent many years living on Whidbey Island in Washington State where they both fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. She cherished her dogs, Duke and Duchess, and the immense joy they brought to her life. Carol and Jim loved working and traveling together with Southwest Airlines, and they really loved going to Disney World! It was truly their happy place.
Carol was a devoted and loving mother and is survived by her daughter, Angel (David) Rollins, and her son, Shaun Scully. Carol was blessed with and survived by her nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild who were the joys of her life: Joshua Obermeyer, Lauren Obermeyer, Karson Rollins, Xander Rollins, Paige Scully, Avanden Scully, Aislinn Nolan, Hayden Scully, Madison Boyzuck, and Jolene Summerlin. Carol is also survived by her brother, William (Erlene) Folks and many beloved cousins.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Francis Folks and her husband, James Scully.
Celebration of life service for Carol is pending, but will be held at the United States Air Force Academy Community Chapel with internment at the USAFA Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to the love of her life.
