Carolyn Marguerite Loveless Post of Wichita Kansas passed away peacefully at home in her sleep, Monday, January 29, 2024. She was born September 13, 1932 in Topeka KS, daughter of Floyd and Marguerite Loveless.
Carolyn attended college at Washburn University, Topeka KS, where she received her BA in English. She had a French Grandmother she loved (Louisa Emila Lelievre) which prompted her to also study French. During her college years, Carolyn was an active member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She worked in the State Capitol, and in ladies’ clothing at Pelletier’s department store.
Washburn is where Carolyn met Bradley Post. They were studious yet social, “double dated” frequently, played bridge and enjoyed attending parties and dances. They fell deeply in love, and married the summer of their final year(s) of college, on August 9, 1952, which ultimately led to a 65-year marriage.
Carolyn and Bradley lived in various western Kansas towns during their early married years, and began raising a family. It was an active time caring for 4 young children, helping as room mother at the elementary, and making their home beautiful. Both voracious readers, their home was always filled with books. Carolyn enjoyed hosting bridge club, attending family gatherings and Brad’s work-related outings, teaching Sunday school, and going to Suburban Lanes, a bowling alley they owned.
The family moved to Wichita in 1967, and during the years the children were in school there, Bradley was practicing law and Carolyn held a bustling household together, acted as nurse or referee as needed, chauffeured kids to multitudes of activities, lessons, and events. She had many friends, still enjoyed bridge club, remained involved as an Alpha Phi alumna, and was active in their church.
Carolyn was creative and had a great love of the Arts. She began taking oil painting classes and volunteering at the Wichita Art Association. She knew some local artists, one was a dear friend and mentor, and they enjoyed visiting galleries. Carolyn and Brad were season ticket holders to the Wichita symphony orchestra, and they enjoyed many live shows in Las Vegas. As an encouraging and supportive mother and grandmother, Carolyn attended countless concerts, dance recitals, theater, marching band, symphony and choir performances throughout the years.
Carolyn also loved traveling. She and Bradley went to Canada on their honeymoon and for a later Anniversary. They visited several European countries and their journey to France and Monte Carlo fulfilled Carolyn's lifelong dream to visit the place of her Grandmother’s origin. The family went many places for Bradley’s law conventions, they enjoyed beach destinations, visits to Colorado and their condo in Winter Park, and trips to attend graduations and sporting events.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband Bradley Post (1929 – 2017,) Father Floyd Loveless (1889 – 1954,) Mother Marguerite “Peggy” Loveless (1894 – 1983,) and 5 siblings, Norma Loveless Floyd, James Loveless, a USAF pilot, Lowell Loveless, a restaurant owner and opera singer in the Chicago area, Lawrence “Larry” Loveless, Philip Gerald “Gerry” Loveless, who is survived by Marilyn Sue Loveless. Carolyn & Bradley were very close with Gerry & Marilyn and they went on many wonderful trips together.
She is survived by children, Keith Post of Beaverton OR, Kraig Post of Dallas TX, Blake Post of Wichita KS, Alicia Post of Austin TX, and granddaughters Belinda Post and Lindsey Post.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 11 am in the Chapel at East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS
