Carroll M. Casey, age 97, of Wichita, Kansas died Sunday February 27, 2022 at 12:40 A.M. in Wichita, Kansas. He was born July 11, 1924, in Corning, Kansas to Carl Edgar Casey and Edna Mae (Kemplay) Casey. He went through elementary & high school in Corning, and one semester of college at Kansas State before entering the service. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 until 1945. He went through Pilot Training, served as a 2nd Lieutenant, and was preparing for the anticipated invasion of Japan.
He married Marcella J. Pinick on September 8, 1946, a union which lasted more than 75 years until his death. Carroll & Marcella lived in Kansas City, Missouri where he was employed by General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 1980. They moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas in 1983 where they enjoyed retirement life. He was active in the Lutheran Church holding various offices and enjoyed golfing and wood working. Several years they also enjoyed wintering in Yuma, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen and Verena and brother Lavern who died in 1920, within 2 days of each other as result of diphtheria. He was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter Emma Jean Winegarden.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella, daughter Sandra (Alan) Winegarden of Rome, WI, sons Paul (Deanna) Casey of Bolivar, MO and Timothy (Lori) Casey of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
A funeral service for Carroll will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 2555 N. Hyacinth Ln, Wichita, KS 67204. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, KS 67209.
In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Bella Vista Lutheran Church Building Fund, 1990 Forest Hills Boulevard, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72715.
