To all of the Simon relatives, 

Our deepest sympathy goes out to you in the loss of Catherine and Duane.  What a special family you all are.  Duane taking care of Catherine and Rose.  What a dedicated son and nephew to act as their caregiver for all of those years.

As I grew up living across the road, my fondest memories are riding to church/school with Mary and Cecilia in the blue two door Ford.  Of course it got a little chilly when Cecilia rolled down the window so she could use her arm as a turn signal.  I remember the    
wonderful, out of this world smell of freshly baked cookies, cakes, breads or whatever came out of the oven.  I remember the cookie tin sitting on top of the cabinet just as you came in the door to the kitchen.  We actually wore the paint off of the tin getting into it  
so often.  I remember the beautiful horses in the pasture and those funny looking cows with the big hump on their backs.  I remember the "boys" going to wedding dances on Saturday nights.  I remember the boys using the jeep and snow skiing in the pasture.  I remember the boat that we got to ride in out at Cheney Lake.  I almost drowned trying to learn how to water ski.  I remember the farm dogs either in the pickup or running as fast as they could following the pickup up to the North pasture to do chores. I remember 
the bunk house sitting out in the yard and the horses hooked up to the circular lead trainer.  I remember how they would train the 
young colts to get use to saddles.  I remember the big white and blue horse trailer pulling out of the driveway headed out of state for the "big track record" set by Junior Myers.  I remember the huge garden that Mary and Cecilia tended to.  Back breaking work but great food was always on the table.  I remember the fresh smell of cut hay.  I remember that tragic day in April, 1960 when the tornado tore through our farms.   I remember the rebuilding of barns afterwards that still stand today.  I remember Catherine and Rose coming out to the farm on Sunday afternoons and sitting on the porch just watching the world go by.  I remember seeing the yard light on before the sun came up and after it went down.  Everyone in the family work long and hard every day.  I remember even after Marcus and Mary passed away, the girls would come back home to help Cecilia when her health started failing.  I remember Catherine's beautiful white hair wishing I had her hair (and now I do sort of...) I remember the legacy that Marcus and Mary left for their children.  Oh what fond memories.  

I hope your fond memories will get you through this most difficult time.  That Simon generation sure has left us with some good times and memories.  Thanks for those memories!
