Charles Buster Bellamy

Charles “Charlie” Buster Bellamy, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on August 19, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 12, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, to the late Charles and Darlyne Bellamy.

Charlie proudly spent time in the United States Navy aboard the USS Kearsarge. After leaving the Navy and his marriage to Connie on September 23, 1961, Charlie began building a life for his growing family. In those early years, the Bellamy family moved between Kansas City and Wichita as Charlie worked in a variety of trades and professions. Spending time in the trucking industry and worked in construction, including roofing, while taking on many different jobs along the way. Charlie was a hardworking man who was willing to learn, work with his hands, and do whatever it took to provide for his family. Eventually, he found a home at Dolese, where he spent many years building his career before retiring in September 2002.

Together, Charlie and Connie shared nearly 65 years of marriage, building a life and raising a family that became Charlie’s greatest pride and joy.

Charlie was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. He had a quiet strength about him and never needed to say much to make an impression. He enjoyed the simple things in life—hunting and fishing, working in his garden, driving his trucks, and cheering on his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

Above all else, Charlie loved his family. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren, and the joy they brought into his life was immeasurable. He loved watching his family grow and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.

Charlie is survived by: his wife, Connie; his children, Koni (Dave), Jennifer (Phil), Butch (Laura), Ed, and his daughter-in-law, Michele; his sister, Patricia Isabell; his grandchildren, Crystal, Savannah, Lance, Natalie, Jessica, Alysha, and Josh; and his 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his son, James; and grandson, Jason.

Charlie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family; and someone who found happiness in the people and simple pleasures he loved most. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories and generations of family who will carry his love and legacy with them.

His family will miss his quiet presence, his stories, and the many simple moments that made life with Charlie special. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Public Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026; Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM on Friday, August 28, 2026, both at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Garden of Lord's Prayer, Wichita.
