

Hamner, Charles J., passed away at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, KS on May 27, 2015. He was born July 20, 1928 in Winchester, MO to his parents Henry and Ethel Hamner. Charles served 24 years in the Air Force retiring in 1971. He flew in the Berlin Airlift and nine more years in reconnaissance service and as Air Attaché under Sec. Dulles with a Crypto, Top Secret Status serving during Korea and Vietnam era. He was superintendent of Base Communications at McConnell AFB upon his retirement. After a few years he served as a volunteer for 25 years with Youth For Christ at the Boys Ranch, Lock –up for both Boys and Girls in Wichita, a member of Countryside Christian Church in Wichita for 50 years. He is preceded by his parents, Henry and Ethel Hamner; brothers, Richard, Ralph and Delbert; sisters, Ruby DeWitt and Opal Pearl Hamner; son, Daniel Hamner. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara; sons, Dennis (Susan) of Bellevue, WA and Darin of San Francisco, CA; grandson, Jacob and granddaughter, Jessica both of Goddard, KS; numerous relatives and friends. Funeral service is 10:00 AM Monday, June 1, 2015 with visitation 1 hour prior, both at Resthaven Mortuary. Pastor Tom Scott will be officiating.
