I have many memories of Charlie at 81 Speedway. He was a great man and friends with my brothers.I was there every weekend and always enjoyed watching him race. Rest in peace Charlie.

CPT Lutkie was a decent guy and always treated me fairly. I worked for him in the jail when I first hired on the Sheriff's Office. He always told you what he wanted and expected, but he was a great guy and cared about his people.

Charlie was friends with my grandparents, Bob & Jean Moffitt.  As a kid, one of my favorite things to do was go watch Charlie "Lucky" at the races!

Uncle Charlie was great at whatever he put his mind to do. He was a wonderful cook, a good card player, a great plumber, welder, roofer, mechanic on any kind of vehicle that had an engine. He cannot be replaced. He was very good to me and taught me how to be better at things I needed help with. Thanks for everything Uncle C. Julie Pero

My Mom and Dad used to go and watch Charlie wrestle and race, then as a little boy I watch him race at CJ and 81 Speedway. I then went to work for Capt. Lutkie in the jail in the late 60s and early 70s transferring out to the Det. Div.  I learned alot from Charlie that has saved me many times in my years in Law Enforcement.
Charlie you will not be forgotten and you will be always respected.
Mike so sorry about your dad he was a good man, tough but  fair, he had a good heart and will be missed by many.

Charlie hired me as a jailer with a question and a statement. "What shift do you want to work?" and "You need a haircut." I really admired his attitude and this loss affects all of us who ever knew him.

So sorry to hear about Charlie. Just hearing his name brought floods of memories to mind.  At one time you drove for my dad-Bill Carrell.  My dad was very fond of Charlie and always had a funny story to tell when Charlie was involved.  I was just a youngster @ the time but remember both of you well.  Charlie was full of laughter-what fun times! Charlie was a good friend to my Great Grandparents and a force to be reckoned with on the dirt track. I was just looking at some photos of him on Sunday night. I only met him once, but I will never forget him. May he rest in peace, and may his family celebrate this talented, colorful man.

Charlie will be missed by a lot of people.  Knew him in law enforcement.  Also he gave me many hours of pleasure watching him in a race car.  He was one of the greatest  during his time, and that was back when this area had several that could hold their own anywhere in the United States.  He will be missed.

charlie will now be doing hot laps with in heaven with all the racer's that   have gone before him.  always a joy to watch him race since the day's at c-j, hutch,81 speedway, and the show on the front streach with the trophy queen after he won was something i will always remember... being inducted into the b.c.r.a, belleville ,wichita sports halls of fame is an honer for a great racer r.i.p charlie

My Brother Charley, I did not know you all that well. More my fault really, as I am not one to be openly outspoken in the company of people I really don't know that well, until I get to know them, or they get to know me.  I was not in your company enough to really get to know you.  However, you have made an impact, in my memory at least, of your caring and giving nature towards my sister Helen, and her family when they came around, and all people in general. Always willing to lend a hand or give them a ride, whatever they needed, you were ready and willing, no-questions-asked, to provide to them whatever they needed, whether to keep them out of, or to keep them from getting into, trouble, that was your apparent life's mission .  I am sorry now for not coming around more often to get to know you better.  Unfortunately that is my loss, as I know you to be a very generous and caring person, not only to my sister and family, but to everyone that you undoubtedly came in contact with over the years.  My brother... I know that your physical body may be gone from this world, and you are in a far better place than this.  Your spirit is home with the Lord, as will everyone's be someday.  You have lived a long and hopefully happy life.  As a Veteran myself, I salute you for your service, and sacrifice, to this great Nation of ours, so that the rest of us could know the freedoms' that we as American's, sometimes take for granted, enjoy today.  I wish to thank you for those services, and sacrificies you made, to keep the United States, it's people, their lives', dreams', and Freedoms' alive for ages to come.  My brother, you have seen, and done much in your lifetime.  More than most of us will ever do.  The Lord says to you, "Rest, and sleep now, for I, your God has much in store for you, for when I come to bring you home to see the place that I have prepared for you, next to mine.

We Love, and We will miss you, Brother.

What fond memories I have of Charlie! Going back to 77 Speedway in my home town of Ark City,Ks to Cee-Jay,Hutch and 81 speedway. A natural driving talent and one great showman! God speed Charlie! Thanks for the memories!!

I recall Charley hiring me to work in the jail.  Someone that you always knew where you stood and what his expectations were.  He will be missed.

So many memories, goes all the way back to CeJay. Last time I saw Charley was a limo ride to Hutchinson and he was at his funniest.  We all had a ball,.

Uncle Charlie was our Mom's(Ann Pero) youngest brother.  His laughter, teasing, and pure love for fun was what we remember of him. His visits to Wisconsin and our trips to Wichita are so memorable that he will never be forgotten in our family.  We intend to document all of the stories about him as we remember each one so that he will live on in our family for years to come. God love you, Uncle Charlie and enjoy heaven with all who have gone before you.

Our condolences to the Lutkie family.  My parents, John (late) and Lillian Stroud, sure thought the world of Mr. Lutkie.  Until now, I thought his name was "Lucky."  Growing up, that is what they called him and I just now realize that it was "Lutkie."

Sincerity, loyalty, devotion and positive attitude  define Capt. Lutke.  Keep his memory near and dear to your heart because Charley is from a vanishing breed of men.  He will be missed by many.

My Grandfather was a wonderful man and I will always remember all the special times we shared together. He was the best grandpa anyone could ever ask for. I will truly miss him. I love him so much. I will never forget him.
