Charlotte Stone

She was born Nov 7, 1927, in Memphis, Shelby Co.,TN to Edward F. and Virginia G. Holstegge.

Her family moved to Wichita, KS, in 1942, she graduated from East High School in 1945. She married David Stone, at Wichita Air Base Chapel on October 25, 1952. They met at the USO where she was a Junior Hostess. They have one son, Alan (Cynthia) of Calif, and one daughter, Jill Boatright of Park City, KS, foster daughter Patty (Gary) Byerlee, three grandchildren; Hollie Stewart, CA, Willis Stone, CA, and Jessica Prilliman, Wichita, KS., and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Frances Stout (Charles), OK, brothers Frank, KS, and Jimmie (Rufina) of CO.

With the Air Force, they were stationed at Wichita, KS; Savannah, GA; Shreveport, LA; Rantoul, IL; Roswell, NM; and Dayton, OH.

In Wichita Charlotte worked for Western Union, Bucks, Borbein-Young, Davis Mfg. After they returned to Wichita in 1968 she worked at Kashfinders Adv., and Slawson Oil Co,. She retired from Slawson in 1983, surviving Breast Cancer in 1984. She loved Bowling, Square and Round Dancing, Motor Coach touring both national and international, and caring for her Grand and Great Grand Children. Charlotte was often quoted as saying that her longevity was due to her Dancing. Their first date David took her dancing.

She will be greatly missed by family, dance friends and friends at Prairie Homestead where she lived her last year and a half. Funeral services will be at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, 201 So. Hydraulic, Wichita, on Saturday, December 17, 2016, 9:30 AM. Visitation with the family 6 – 8 PM Friday December 16 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary. Interment will follow at White Chapel Cemetery, East 17th St North and North Oliver, Wichita.
