Cheryl graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Asbury Hospital School of Nursing and Kansas Wesleyan University. As a registered nurse she worked at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita many years before moving to Dallas, Texas where she worked as Director of Nurses for three hospitals along with many other areas in the nursing field.
She was very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and a fifty year member, a member of several book review clubs both in the Dallas area and in Wichita. A very active member of her church, Disciples of Christ, volunteered for Meals on Wheels both in Dallas and Wichita, was given the honor of Volunteer of the Year for Wichita Area Food Bank. She was active in the Senior Friends Group while in Texas and coordinated a Food Bank for the New Hope Christian Church in Wichita.
Cheryl was preceded in death by husband, Joe E. McGee; parents, Esther and Ervin Gibbs; and sisters, Marianna Gibbs Lewis, Peggy Gibbs Kennedy, Carolyn Hill and Janet Gibbs.
She is survived by many Nieces and Nephews along with numerous Great and Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service for Cheryl, will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Via Christi Village Georgetown, 1655 S. Georgetown Street, Wichita, Kansas 67218.
