Christopher L. Black

Christopher Lawrence Black, 65, passed on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at the age of 65. He was born on February 21, 1961, in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, the son of Robert Earl and Gletha Mae (Bolinger) Black.

He was a resident of Wichita, Kansas, for the last 38 years. In May 2001, he graduated with his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University. He retired as a Rocket Engineer, working for Virgin Galactic.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lonna Black; daughter, Michelle Pike; son, Gary Pike; brother, William and wife, Kathy Black; sisters, Susan and husband, Don Edwards, Sally and husband and lifelong friend to Christopher, Mark Schultz; four grandchildren, Elliot and Isabelle, Kaley and Lily.

Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, March 26, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 12100 E. 13th Street North, Wichita. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Garden of Prayer, Wichita.

A light luncheon will follow the service.
