Bud was the son of Claude A. Miller Jr. and Dorothy Miller and was born in Wichita, Kansas in 1943. He graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1961. Bud went on to Pittsburg State University as a member of the football team and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Bud continued his education at University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in Mortuary Science.
He was a member of the Rotary Club and Lake Athens Baptist Church. He enjoyed, bass fishing, antique John Deere tractor pulling, dirt track auto racing and following the Trinity Valley Community College sports teams. He worked as a funeral director and pre-need salesman before moving to Duncan Oklahoma to begin his career as a business owner. In 1980 he married Una Bee Carley. He and Una Bee partnered in cemetery and funeral home ownership in Duncan, Oklahoma, San Angelo and Del Rio Texas. After retiring they moved to Athens, Texas.
Bud is survived by sons, Aaron (Nikki) Miller of Wichita, Kansas and Grant (Brandy) Miller of Frisco, Texas; stepdaughters, Carley Jo Carpenter of McPherson, Kansas and Sara (Erik) Folck of Galva, Kansas; sister, Nancy Genell (Mike) Kemmerer of Wichita. Kansas; nephew, Chris Kemmerer of Wichita, Kansas; niece, Stacy Kemmerer of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Jessica, Christian, Carter, Audrey, Amber, and Haylee; and great grand children, Katherine, Emmy Lou, Ella May, Katelynn, Scarlett and Maddison. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Una Bee Carley-Miller; his parents, Claude and Dorothy Miller; and stepdaughter, Diane Carpenter Blake.
A visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:30pm, Saturday, May 8th, at Resthaven Mortuary. Graveside service will follow 3:00pm, at Resthaven's Cemetery in the Garden of Gethsemane, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
