

Roger was born in Caldwell, KS in 1942.
His early years were proudly spent on the family farm in Bluff City. Kansas. When he was just 8 years old, Roger contracted polio and spent time recovering in an iron lung at Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Oklahoma City. This led to his support and involvement later in life with a Masonic order.
Roger graduated from Wakita HS in 1960.
He was a proud Army Vietnam veteran and a retired Logistical Technician with the Air National Guard for 25 years at McConnell Air Force Base.
He worked in aviation as an industrial engineer for Cessna Aircraft Company and
as a Fuel Compliance Officer with the IRS, retiring in 2008.
Roger was a lifetime avid musician and very active in the Wichita live music community.
His volunteer activities included the Masons and he was an ordained deacon in 2000.
A lifetime highlight included experiencing the Kansas Honor Flight #69 in Washington DC accompanied by his daughter Kristine in 2019.
His hobbies included gardening, music, and all types of creative pursuits. Roger was one of the most curious people you would ever meet and rarely knew a stranger.
Roger is survived by his spouse Paulette, daughters Kristine, Janelle, and Lisa. Step-son Richard. Sons-in-law Daniel and Joseph. Grandchildren Rebecca, Gabriel, and Samuel.
Preceded in death by parents Clyde and Ennis Mattingly, brother Thomas, sister-in-law Alice, wife and mother of his children, Sharon, wife Sue, grandson, Ryan and stepdaughter Jennifer.

A Visitation for Clyde will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM both at Woodland Lakes Community Church, 770 S Greenwich Rd, Wichita, KS 67207. A committal service will occur Friday, May 30, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Kechi Township Cemetery, 6499 N Hillside Ave, Wichita, KS 67219.
