

Lehning, Dale, 77, passed away June 24, 2016. Dale grew up and went to school in Hoisington KS. He joined the Navy after graduating high school and served from 1956 to 1959 before attending WSU for 3 years. He returned to his hometown to run his father’s Buick dealership for a time before coming back to Wichita and working for Universal Adjustment Co. He then bought a salvage yard: A-One Auto Salvage. Dale was then appointed by the U.S. Attorney General to a board to track stolen parts, was a past president of both the Wichita Recyclers Association and the Kansas Recyclers Association, and a member of the Kansas Dealers Review Board. Dale is preceded in death by parents, Fred and Emma, sister, Janice Toole, and son, Hal R. Lehning. He is survived by wife of 53 years, Sandra; sons, Shaun (Tina) Lehning and Mike (Shannon) Lehning; daughter, Maria (Kerry) Whitehair; sisters, Lela Mae Daymond and Judy (Vern) Just; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that will be dearly missed. A visitation will be held Wed. June 29th from 6-8 pm at Resthaven Mortuary and funeral services will be held Thurs. June 30th at 10:00 am at Ascension Lutheran Church. Burial will be 1:00 pm on Friday, July 1st at Hoisington Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church.
