Dannie Roy Wiens, age 83, of Haysville, Kansas, passed away from natural causes on Friday, February 28, 2025. He was born in Hooker, Oklahoma, on January 19, 1942, to the late Daniel F. and Minnie A. (Nikkel) Wiens. Dannie grew up with his brothers, Devon and Lloyd, creating cherished memories together.
After attending Ark City High School, Dannie's journey took a significant turn when he joined the U.S. Military as a Military Police officer. From October 25, 1966, to October 31, 1969, he served honorably in Germany, patrolling the Berlin Wall/Checkpoint Charlie.
A serendipitous encounter at a stoplight led to a beautiful love story. Dannie married Sheila Wawak on August 24, 1968, at First Bible Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. They honeymooned in Colorado and soon welcomed four children: Kimber Hawkins, Matthew Wiens, Nathan Wiens, and Tyler Wiens.
Dannie was known for his corny jokes, his love for the Oklahoma Sooners, and his unwavering faith. He and Sheila dedicated their time to helping the homeless community and enjoyed exploring antique shops together.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Dannie pursued his passion for woodworking as the owner of Dan Wiens Construction, specializing in high-end trim carpentry. He took great pride in creating masterpieces for his family.
Dannie is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Minnie Wiens; his wife, Sheila Wiens; his brothers, Devon Wiens and Lloyd Wiens; his son, Nathan E. Wiens; and his son-in-law, Brian Rasmussen.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly Hawkins (Joe), Matthew Wiens (Stephanie), and Tyler Wiens (Tammy); 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Dannie will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both at Glenville Baptist Church, 4604 S. Seneca St., Wichita, KS 67217.
A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Rose Garden, Lot 71A, Space 3, 11800 W. HWY 54, Wichita, KS.
