Danny was proud of a lot of things, including his work at the Coliseum.  He worked second and third shift for quite some time, never missing a shift or a deadline for changeovers—no matter how demanding or how cold it was.
He assumed the job of being the head welder, repairing cattle panels at night.  He ended up working days as a supervisor, and Danny was the guy that the horse shows and the cattle shows always went to, to get something done, and get it done right.
He was proud of being in the military.  If there was ever a holiday that Danny thought he deserved to take off, it was Veteran's Day.  One time I asked him if he had served overseas, and he told us that he was stationed off the Bering Strait in Alaska. I scratched my head and told him I didn't think that was really overseas, and he said “Well, we took a boat to get there!”
Danny was proud of his cowboy ways and his cowboy boots.  He had a T-Shirt in big bold letters that said, Yes, I am a Red Neck!
There was never a dull moment around Danny, and we had some great times together, along with all the hard work that was done.  He was our orginal "barn manager", and our semi-truck driver, and the hi-loader guy, always proud of his work. 
But the biggest thing that he was proud of was his family and his two daughters.  He would always talk about Stephanie and Angela,  and I remember them coming to the Coliseum with Lynda when they were very young, and he was so happy when they came around.  As they turned into teenagers and later young adults, he might lament about this and that, but he still had that sparkle in his eyes just talking about them. 
It was tough when Danny all of the sudden stopped coming to work, with the cancer and everything.  He fought this out of course in typical Danny style.  He wanted to come back, but the doctors wouldn't let him.  He still came around to check on us as much as he could.
God Bless Danny and his family, I was privileged to be a co-worker and a friend to him.
