David Roy Carruthers, 71, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at his home in Wichita, Kansas. He was born July 3, 1952 in Coshocton, Ohio, the son of John R. and Martha Jane (Sarchet) Carruthers.
David spent his formative years in Ohio and Arkansas, before settling in Wichita, KS which he considered to be home. He has been married to Tricia Carruthers (Duling) for the past 29 years. David was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served for 3 years in Germany. He worked primarily in the automotive industry with roles in Finance and Sales. His last position before retirement was with Starkey Industries which allowed him to work with special needs clients, which was a great joy to him. David was much loved by his sons and grandchildren and also his many nieces and nephews who always loved a good joke or ribbing from “Uncle David”.
Preceded in death by: John R. Carruthers (Father); Clifford R. Carruthers (Brother); Lea Carruthers (Niece); and Kathleen Duling (Niece).
David is survived by: his wife, Tricia; mother, Martha Jane Carruthers of Arkansas; sister, Karen Roberts (Kenny) of Arkansas; brother, John Carruthers of Mexico; sister-in law Deb Carruthers of Texas; sons Matthew Carruthers (Becky) of Minnesota and Justin Carruthers (Melissa) of Kansas; grandchildren, Austin, Jaydon, Ashlyn, Brynlee, Collin, and Sully as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 6:30 P.M. on Monday, September 18, 2023; with the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, both at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4411 W. Maple Street, Wichita, Kansas. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in the Garden of Cross.
