Deborah Johnson

Deborah Dee Dingel was born in Sibley, Iowa on April 9th, 1947, to Kenneth and Alyce Dingel. She grew up on farms near Ocheyedan, Iowa, and Terril, Iowa, where her family moved when she was six. She attended Terri Community School and was an excellent and active student, playing trumpet in band and serving on the school newspaper and student council. After graduation she attended Mankato Business College and worked most of her life as a manager of Koch Financial Services Cash Application Group.

On July 4th, 1971, she married Tom Johnson, a policeman from Kansas City. She adopted and raised Tom’s boys, Tom Jr. and Edward. Deb and Tom would spend the rest of their lives together moving to Wichita, Kansas for Deb’s job at Koch Industries. In Wichita, she would also get a bachelor’s degree in accounting. After retirement, they moved back to Iowa where she took care of her aging parents and did bookkeeping at Arnold’s Park at Lake Okoboji. They moved back to Wichita in 2013 for a few years before moving to Case Grande, Arizona. After Tom’s passing, Deb returned to Wichita where she lived for the rest of her life.

Deb enjoyed crossword puzzles, mahjong, camping, and traveling. She was an avid reader and loved cooking and baking sweets.

She is survived by her son Edward, her grandchildren Brandon, Autumn, and Trenton; her great-grandchildren Karson, Maxxwell, Sage, and Phillip; and her brother Doug, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Alyce Dingel, her husband Tom W. Johnson, her son Tom M. Johnson, and her sister Diane. Her brother Dave has recently passed.
