

Huff, D. James, 70, retired registered nurse passed away Sunday October 2, 2011. Memorial services and burial will be 10:00 am Thursday, Oct. 6 at Resthaven Mortuary and Cemetery with viewing 1 hour prior to service. Mr. Huff was born to Lula and Festus Huff in Hale, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Pamela Fisher and brother-in-law Hobert Wampler. James is survived by roommate Alvin Harr, sisters Ina Jean Wampler of Lubbock, TX and Barbara Schmidt (Paul) of Andale, KS and brother C.F. Huff (Susann) of Sunrise Beach, MO; nephews Gary Wampler of Houston, TX, Stephen Schmidt of Goddard; nieces Lisa Mertes of Colwich, Jana Mitchell of Denver, Tonya Johnson of Burnsville, MN, Lori Anderson of Eldon, MO, and Leslie Copeland of Hesston. Great nephews Micah Mertes, Misha Schmidt, Sasha Schmidt, Nikita Schmidt, Madison Anderson, Morgan Anderson, Canon Copeland and Lawrence Wampler; great nieces Elizabeth Wampler, Elissa Ballman, Natalie Schulz, Noel Mertes, Lula Mitchell, Zadie Johnson, Aneya Johnson, Addisyn Copeland, MacKenzie Anderson, Meredith Anderson and a host of friends and his beloved dog Casey. James spent most of his early years in Lewis, KS where he graduated from high school in 1960. He was in the first graduating class of Barton County Community College’s nursing school. Thereafter he pursued a 45 year career in nursing with stints at Wesley, Riverside, Veterans, and all of the Via Christi Hospitals with the final ten years at the St. Joseph Campus. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Kansas Humane Society.
