We exchanged "Best Neighbor Ever" status 20 years ago and its hard to put a number on the times we called or texted "meet me at the fence" for some type of food, gift giving, or chatting.
Making a banner that looked like the fence running between our properties, and taking this banner to the Cottage, standing outside Denise's window and talking over "the fence" was priceless.
The laughs we got from pranks included; taking patio furniture from each others yard and displaying it-- as if not knowing how it got there. House sitting and wrapping the absentee neighbors canned goods in foil. Jayden & Denise put a pink light bulb in our front porch light and had to wait over 2 months for us to notice--they didn't know our indoor light switch had quit working, and we couldn't turn on our porch light until fixing the switch. Placing bubble wrap under the outdoor mat and watching as the victim tried to figure out what that noise was. Having the porch swing go missing and finding out it had actually been stolen...and we laughed & laughed. Denise, our friend and BEST NEIGHBOR EVER, we love you and your family! Joy & Lisa LaRue

Denise was such a great friend and touched so many lives. Working with her at GVG was a hoot, but really what I’ll miss is sitting in her cute little house, sharing stories of our families, our grand babies and laughing at the silly things we did and said. And laughing because Cammie Rae was certain I was always there to see her! Denise lifted me up with laughter, support and her never ending prayers. She’s in my heart until I see her again. To her family and friends, I’m so sorry for your loss—you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I've been sifting through my memories of Denise, trying to decide what to write here. There are so many moments that come to mind. I think that I'd like to mention some of her qualities as a person. I believe that she saw the good in people, that she looked past the outward appearance and saw the goodness within, and that's what she would focus on. She saw her glass half full, rather than half empty. Denise always made people feel like she was glad to see them, and that they mattered. She gave them one of her great smiles. Denise loved her family and friends without reservation. Again, she focused on their goodness.
I have no doubt that Denise is in heaven now. She's probably smiling down at us and saying, as she often did, "I just had to laugh". We love you, Denise, and miss you greatly.

Denise "DJ" was truly a sweet spirit! Her kindness and friendship will always be remembered. I was touched when I received a call from her shortly after she retired from GVG. I hadn't been with the group for sometime, but how honored I was to receive her call and to celebrate in her joy!
As we walk through life, there are those special people who leave a lasting impression on our hearts - DJ is/was certainly one of those people.
Special thoughts and prayers to her family and loved ones.

Our Denise:
A sunny side of the street, happy go lucky, fun loving kind of friend. We'll always remember her saying, "And I just had to laugh." She's gone from sight, but never our memories. Gone from our touch, but never our hearts. Fly high my friend!

Denise is and always be someone very close to my heart. Not only was she a very good friend she was also my spiritual buddy. We would talk about God and Heaven and how we long to one day be "Home" in Heaven. " Although I won't see her or hear her voice now, I know I will again someday.
Last time I spoke with her she said "How is my Patti?" and I replied "How is my Denise?" I know she will continue to do good works in Heaven.
Until we meet again sweet friend!

Denise, my friend, my co-worker, my motorcycle buddy.....a beautiful soul. Had so much fun with her no matter what we were doing. I will never forget the day a few of us Krome Kitty’s were invited to the stage to help sing a song. We laughed so hard. So much fun! I will love you forever and a day my friend.

It was a true blessing knowing Denise, ‘DJ’. She was always on the go but would pause to check in. She is one of those gentle souls that will always hold a special place in my heart. I love Denise!
