Diana Madeline D'Amato

Diana had a rather unique childhood growing up above the family business, Rene's Bar & Grill. She gained a broad range of life experiences and even went on to further her education, earning her Associates of Arts degree from Orange County Community College in Middletown, NY. When Diana's brother was offered an Engineering position at Beechcraft Aircraft, she and the rest of the family made the big move to Wichita. Diana immersed herself in the community, working in mostly customer service before retiring from the Wichita Eagle Beacon and Westar Energy. Diana clearly had an adventurous life which showed in all her travels.

Diana enjoyed staying busy and "being of use". She was a big sister to many through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association; she volunteered at the Kansas Humane Society where she took great pride in walking the "big" dogs; and at the Orpheum Theater where she received an award, recognizing her sixteen (16) plus years of volunteer service.  

An avid cyclist, she successfully completed a Century ride and loved talking about her "biking" days.

A deeply thoughtful, loyal friend and a devout Catholic who generously gave to her church and many other charities. She also attended Latin Mass, sang in the choir, and served wherever she was needed.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents, Renato and Teresa D'Amato; siblings, Orlando "Orly" and wife, Cleo D'Amato; Marie D'Amato Lewallen; and Pasquale "Pat" D'Amato.  She is survived by her brother-in-law, John (Marie) Lewallen; niece, Teresa (William) LaRoque; their three sons, William A. (Carrie), Zachary, and Nicholas; and Great Grandnephew of two months; and niece, Jennifer (Jared) Gallego.

Rosary is at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m.. Both will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church at 258 N. Ohio Ave., Wichita, KS.  Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in the St. Bartholomew Columbarium at 610 S. Vassar St., Wichita, KS.
