Diana Lynn (Lewis) Taylor, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on February 13, 2023 with her son, Scott and daughter, Kim at her side. Diana was born on May 20, 1949 in Eureka, Kansas to her parents, Wilbur and Esther Lewis. She graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1967 as Valedictorian.
After high school she attended Wichita State University and started work at the United States Post Office at the main GMF in Wichita, where she met her future husband, Charles Taylor. They were married on February 14, 1971 at Bethany Methodist Church in Wichita Kansas. She passed away one day shy of their 52nd wedding anniversary.
She was the proud mother of daughter Kim, born in 1972, and son Scott, born in 1979. She took time off from the post office for several years to be home with the kids and was also caretaker for her niece Briann and nephew Michael, both of which were born weeks apart from Scott. She always referred to the trio as "her triplets".
After a hiatus from work, Diana returned to the post office in Andover, Kansas, where she worked as a clerk until she retired in July of 2004. Following her retirement from the Post Office she worked in the Rental department at Adventure RV and then in the transportation department with Cargill in Wichita. She held an Associate's degree in History from Wichita State University which was awarded in 1986. She had a special interest in the US Civil War. Over the years she was active in politics, serving in the campaign for James Litsey for Congress against Dan Glickman in 1978.
She also active for several years in Girl Scouts and later, Boy Scouts. She served as the fundraising coordinator for Two Rivers Youth Club Girls Softball for several years. Diana was a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan and passed just hours after a Chiefs Super Bowl victory. She was also an avid Wichita State Baseball fan. Her other hobbies included baking cookies at Christmas and traveling. She was an avid dog lover.
Diana is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Esther Lewis as well as her husband Charles and beloved dogs Gidget, Snickers, Taz and Izzy (Isabella).
She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Wichita) and son, Scott (Valley Center) and grand dogs, Lexi, Ace and Chloe.
She is also survived by sisters: Connie Jensen (Mark), Rebecca Klungreseter (Karl) and Shari Lewis and Godson (nephew), Andy Jensen, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, February 24; Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita KS. There will be a reception to follow.
