

Diane L. Callewaert, 61, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away on May 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Moline, Illinois, on May 6, 1963, Diane was the beloved daughter of Omer and Thelma Callewaert and the cherished sister of David Callewaert and Denise Wright.
A dedicated educator and reading specialist, Diane believed every child could learn. Her passion for reading extended beyond personal enjoyment—she found profound joy in helping children discover the world of literature, overcome challenges in reading, and cultivate a lifelong love for books. She was an advocate for classic literature and an unwavering supporter of her students, celebrating their successes as her own.
Diane’s warmth, kindness, and gentle strength touched all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion, encouragement, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless students whose lives she enriched.
Her impact as an educator will continue through the many lives she inspired, and her love for reading will remain a guiding light for those who had the privilege of learning from her.
She is survived by her mother, Thelma Callewaert; her brother, David Callewaert, and his family; and her sister, Denise Wright, and her family. She was preceded in death by her father, Omer Callewaert.
A Memorial Service will be held this Friday, May 9, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Country Acres Baptist Church, 8810 W 10th St N, Wichita, KS 67212 followed by a private graveside service.
