Dolores was raised on a farm in St. Marks, Kansas. She met her husband, Joe Cooper, while living in Wichita and together they raised seven children. After her husband’s passing in 1977 she attended Friends University and Wichita State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree. She began her career at Senior Services of Wichita as Coordinator of the Respite Care Program, and retired after 30 years in 2019 at the age of 89 with fond memories of all those she worked with. She worked diligently to ensure her children obtain a higher education and took pride seeing all of them graduate from college. She enjoyed sewing and was a gifted seamstress. Physical exercise, nutrition, reading and learning about history were important aspects of her life. Keeping up with her children and grandchildren’s lives brought her great joy as well.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Aloysius and Rose, and her 10 siblings. She is survived by her seven children, Kim Cooper, Brad Cooper, Kip Cooper, Jeff Cooper (Shirley), Layne Cocke (William), Sondra Cunningham (Randal), Sonya Trusdale (John), as well as her 12 grandchildren, and 7 great- grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers a mass request may be made in her honor at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Colwich, or St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Wichita.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Devorssflanaganhunt.com for the Cooper family.
