Donna Rae Shumate, 81, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born in Springfield, Missouri on January 20, 1937 to Henry and Georgia Harris (Reed). She was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and aunt. Donna retired as a Retail Manager. She was an amazing woman with many talents—ranging from mechanic to seamstress. Her hand-made Raggedy Anne and Andy sets are cherished by many, and she was well-known for her homemade desserts. She proudly embraced technology and kept up with friends and family through email, text, and Facebook. However, nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than sending and receiving greeting cards in the mail. She was preceded in death by her husband; Austin C. Shumate Jr.; daughters: Mary June Shumate, Pamala Moyer; parents: Henry and Georgia Harris; and sister Wanda Stubblefield. Donna is survived by siblings: Glenda Tuter, and Lester Harris (Beverly), David Harris (Mary), Timothy Harris; children: Debra Barker, Austin C. Such a strong amazing woman, mother and friend! Simple the best! Life without you is so hard! You were the border to the Shumate puzzle! In my heart and mind always. Love you Momma!

I only have good memories of my time spent with my wonderful Aunt Donna. When I was younger I always looked forward to going there for the summer. I always had a
great time with my cousins and my Aunt. We would go to the lake to swim and have picnics; and it was always a good time. I did get a bad sunburn once and of course
Aunt Donna doctored it for me everyday.
I really enjoyed helping her with my younger cousins and I would like to think she thought I was helpful.
Things changed over the years and I didn't see much of my Aunt Donna or my cousins but that didn't mean that I didn't love them; it is just something that happens
sometimes in families.
I feel real fortunate that we went to visit her a couple of months ago so I do have that to hold in my heart. It was a great visit with my Aunt Donna and my cousins.
I will miss my wonderful Aunt Donna forever. Love you Aunt Donna. Love all of you kids as well; my heart goes out to you for your loss; it was a big one.
