Rae was born on August 1, 1938, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Joseph and Evelyn Baker. At the age of five her family moved to Wichita, where she lived most of her life. She met Robert W. “Bob” Davis after his discharge from the Navy, and they became amazing swing dance partners. They married in 1958 and together raised three sons, Bradley W. (Brad), Randall R. (Randy), and Robert J. (Robbie). Bob preceded Rae in death in 2008 after 50 happy and fulfilling years of marriage.
Early in their marriage, Bob and Rae both began their journey of Christian faith and started attending Glenn Park Christian Church, where they remained as lifelong members and often hosted bible studies in their home. Rae became a secretary at the church, a position she held for more than 30 years. Rae also joined an Economic Homemakers Unit (EHU) and became close friends with several other ladies. They continued to meet together monthly for the next 60+ years.
A few years after Bob’s passing, Rae returned to her love of dancing and began attending a weekly ballroom dancing club for seniors. It was at these dances that, at the age of 75, she found love once again and married George Kilbane in 2013. They were married for five years before his death in 2018.
Her large, extended family, with all its joys and challenges, was at the center of Rae’s life, thoughts, and prayers. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Brad, and is survived by her sister, Sue McIntyre, age 93, of Wichita, and her brother, Tommy Baker, age 91, of Wilmington, Delaware, along with her two remaining children, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and more than a dozen others whom she considered family and who called her Grandma.
She will be remembered for her patience, the love she gave, and the many special moments she shared with the generations of those she loved.
A viewing will be held at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209, on October 16, 2026, at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 AM.
