Dorothy Lucille Mahon

Dorothy L. Mahon, 70, passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi - St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 15, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Charles E. and Sonya R. (Finley) Knowles.

Lucy graduated from Wichita High School North and her greatest passion has always been to help anyone she could. She became a RNA and worked at local hospitals, then began working at Starkey Inc., helping with special needs individuals. During this time, is when she met and adopted the joy of her life, Joshua. She began taking Joshua to Immanuel Baptist Church as a baby, and they attended there ever since.

Joshua and Lucy loved attending their church and are truly loved and adopted by their IBC family. Another hobby she enjoyed was sewing and making different projects. She made costumes for Starkey parties and for many people within the IBC church for events. Along with sewing, she enjoyed also making face masks for family, friends, and nurses during the horrible COVID period. Lucy also enjoyed her profession as a cosmetologist and after "retiring" from that job, she continued doing hair for her family & friends.

She is preceded in death by: her spouse, J.J. Mahon; her father; and her sister, Linda S. (Knowles) Taylor.

She is survived by: her son, Joshua D. Mahon; her mother, Sonya Knowles; her sister; Sonda (John) Lock; her brothers, Chuck (Janis) Knowles and Vern Knowles; along with 11 nieces & nephews; many great nieces & nephews; and her two dogs, Pixie and Buddy.

Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 South Topeka Street, Wichita, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Lucy's name may be designated to Starkey Inc., 4500 W. Maple Street, Wichita, Kansas 67209 or to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1415 S. Topeka Street, Wichita, Kansas 67211.
