

Dorothy May Fitzsimmons was born on October 8, 1932 in Pratt Kansas to parents May Hillard and Harry O. Fitzsimmons. She was the third of three children. Dorothy passed away on January 28, 2021 in Wichita Kansas at the age of 88. Dorothy met her husband “Mac” in 1949 at a Christmas Eve party and they were married March 15, 1951 in Pratt, Kansas and spent the next 69 wonderful years together.Dorothy and Mac moved to Vallejo CA where Mac was first stationed in the Air Force and then spent time in England where Mac was transferred before returning to Wichita where they bought a home and began raising their family. While raising their family, Dorothy worked part time at the Sedgwick County Courthouse Tag Department and at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church where she and Mac were longtime members. They later became members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Dorothy really enjoyed playing bridge and played in several bridge clubs over the years. She was also talented at arts and crafts which brought her a lot of pleasure. Over the years she completed many inspired projects which were always enjoyed by friends and family. Dorothy and Mac spent many happy summers boating and camping with family and close friends later becoming members of the Good Sam's RV Club. They also enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their RV and cruising to various places.
Most of all, Dorothy loved spending time with her family. It always gave her great joy to be able to bring the family together for any special celebrations or just to be able to share a meal together. She loved taking part in her grandchildren's interests as they were growing up and was always there to support them in any way she could. So many warm and loving memories forever cherished. Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband Earl “Mac” McArthur her parents, her sister Lois Winters, and her brother Harry Dean Fitzsimmons. She is survived by her son Brad McArthur (Vickie), of Wichita, her daughter Julie McArthur (Judith) of Albuquerque, NM; her grandchildren Dillon McArthur (Tiffany) of El Dorado; and Carly Divelbess (Jarrod) of Valley Center. A private graveside service will be held.
