Edith K.Gugenheim (Magnuson) passed into the arms of her loving Father on September 23, 2018. She was born May 14, 1924, in Lockney, Texas, the 5th of 7 children, born to Opal and Ollie (Lackey) Cypert.
She proudly lived 79 years in the Panhandle of TX, mostly in Amarillo. She was a proud daughter of the Texas plains. Many special friendships were developed there through her 30 years working for Navajo and Yellow Freight Systems. In retirement, a great network of friendships grew through her involvement at church, Amarillo Senior Citizens, and The Big Texan Line Dancers. She loved her family, especially, time spent with her great-grandchildren. Many years family vacations were spent going to see her brothers and sisters and other extended family. Christmas, cooking, dancing, and needlework were her other passions. She thrived on sharing some homemade cooking or delicious baked goods with a neighbor or someone who needed a little "boost".
In 2003, health issues forced her to leave Amarillo and move to Wichita. Once again, she fired up the stove and started baking and cooking. She loved her new friendships from Hillside Christian Church and both of her apartment residences and Sedgwick Plaza Assisted Living.
Preceding her in death were her husbands James Magnuson and Dick Gugenheim II, her parents and her 6 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Wade (Waylan) of Valley Center, KS, step-son Paul (Sherry) Gugenheim, Montgomery, TX, granddaughters, Lorna Marshall (Troy) of Burlington, CO, and Melanie Mansingh (David), Queen Creek, AZ, 5 step-grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Justis, & Wynn Marshall, Miranda & Marissa Mansingh and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation and viewing will be held Friday, September 28 from 11am to 1pm at Lakeview, and a Celebration of Life will be held at 10am on Saturday, September 29, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Amarillo, TX. Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, TX.
Memorials have been established with Hillside Christian Church, 8330 E. Douglas, Wichita, KS 67206, Washington Avenue Christian Church, 3800 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX, 79110.
