I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I want you to know how much she (Mama Louis) meant to me and how grateful I am for the love she gave so freely. She was a wonderful mother who built a family rooted in care, strength, and kindness, and that legacy lives on in all of you.

I will always be thankful for the way she welcomed me into the family and for the warmth and grace she showed throughout the years. Most especially, I am grateful for the love she poured into her grandchildren. The bond she shared with my daughter was truly special, and it is something we will always hold close to our hearts.

Tribute to Eliphanie Louis / Tante Man Dantus

Some people leave an imprint so deep that time can never erase it. For me, Tante Man Dantus was one of those rare souls—a woman whose strength, love, and unwavering presence shaped her family and everyone blessed to know her.

I grew up in Milot, Haiti, when respect and discipline were the foundation of every home. In that world, she stood as an incredible mother—always putting her children first. Her joy came from caring for her family, not from trade-offs or slogans. She was firm when needed, yet tender in ways only a mother could be. I’ll never forget those moments when she called me to play domino or quietly saved me from my father’s discipline. That was her way of saying, “I see you, and I care.”

The memory that stays with me most happened on one of the hardest days of my life—the day I returned to Haiti to bury my mother. Inside the church, sitting in the third row, angry and lost, I felt a gentle touch on my shoulder. I turned, and there she was—giving me that look that said everything without words: “I am here with you.” That simple act gave me strength. That is who she was—always showing up when it mattered most.

Before I close, I must thank Wesner. When I told him I needed to see her, he didn’t hesitate. Soon after, I received a text: “You have 24 hours to decide" so I don't lose my money. His itinerary was set for the same flight to come see his mom.  Unfortunately my flight was delayed at FTL. I will forever grateful to you West for given the see her one last time. As I arrived, Ruth told her that i was in the room and right away she knew who i was. She even asked about my sister Evelyn and my brother Carole.

Today, we honor a woman who taught us that family is everything, that discipline and tenderness can coexist, and that true strength is found in love and presence. Her legacy lives on in every memory, every lesson, and every heart she touched.

Man Dan has passed away, leaving behind an immense void.
She considered the Montreuil brothers and sisters as her own children, and we were two families bonded together for life.

We would have loved to keep her with us much longer, but God decided otherwise. What remains are the precious memories  those of Redford, of a home always full of life, with constant comings and goings, warmth, and love.

An extraordinary woman, Man Dan, you left your children and all of us  a priceless legacy of values, generosity and devotion.

Rest in peace, Man Dan.

God bless the Louis/Dolce Family. Your matriarch will be missed greatly. My fondest memory was of her enjoying the hymns even though there was a language barrier. Music the universal language.  I looked at her and noticed the joy she felt. What a blessing it was to see God work. Memories to have and hold until forever will help you through this. Smile, cry, whatever you desire.
