Liz was born September 14, 1932 in West Plains, Missouri to C. Van and Hannah (Bassett) Wiley.
On New Year's Eve 1950, Liz eloped with Earl Herndon Jr. of Aurora, Missouri, to whom she was
married for 47 years. Liz and Earl then made Wichita their home for over 40 years, where they
worked, raised a family, and made many life-long friendships before retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas
in 1994. Liz enjoyed working all her life and she held several Executive Secretary roles at Mobil Oil Co.,
Kelly Girl Services, and the Wichita Eagle. She and Earl were active members of the Church of Christ
community wherever they lived. After Earl's passing on November 4, 1997, Liz began working as the
Church Secretary for several years at the Bella Vista Church of Christ before retiring at the age of 80.
She then returned to Wichita to live closer to her family.
Liz is survived by her daughters Janice Martin (John) and Diane Cool (David), both of Wichita; grandchildren Missy Espinoza (Mark), Johnny Martin (Melissa), Ryan Martin (Nancy), Aubrey Martin, Jessica Martin, Jaramie Cool (Krista Birmingham), Cassie Kilpatrick (Alan), Stan Meier (Jennie), Whitney Cool, Alyssa Cool; and great grandchildren 16.
