Ernest "Sonny" Eugene Reed III

Age 82, also known as "Sonny" was born to Ernest and Nadine Reed on May 4, 1938.

In 1959, Ernest joined the United States Army, where he was stationed and served in the Korean conflict and apart of the Korea Military Advisory Group (KMAG) where later he was honorably discharged.

After returning to Wichita for a few years, he moved to Denver, Colorado. There he had a son, Dion Reed (deceased). Ernest met Loretta Wise, In 1967 they married. Ernest and Loretta welcomed Brigette Reed into the world in 1974 and in 1978, they welcomed Ernie Reed IV. Bridgette and Ernie enjoyed playing tricks on their dad, but it was all out of love.

Ernest worked with his uncle Gerald in the transmission & car repair industry. He worked as a Custodial Engineer at Coors Brewery for over 20 years were he retired from. He was truly a jack of all trades.

In October of 2020, Ernest became ill and decided he wanted to move back to Wichita for his final days. He spent the last days of his life with his sisters Joyce , Andrea, and his niece Keisha. On January 23, 2021 Ernest Reed III was called home to his final resting place.

Ernest will be forever loved and memorized. Memories of Ernest are his favorite phrase "Hey man", he could sing, he was an amazing skater, being stubborn, and exceptional provider. But most of all he was a phenomenal father and grandfather. We will miss him dearly. We are forever grateful for his love and memories created.

Ernest is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Reed, and son, Dion Reed.

Ernest is survived by his wife Loretta Reed, children; Brigette Reed and Ernest Reed IV, sisters; Joyce McElroy, and Andrea Reed, 4 grandchildren; Lexus, Jadah, Deseriee and Desreon. He was a family man who valued and loved his children and grandchildren dearly.
