Brooks, Ferne, 91, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away October 5, 2014 at Georgetown Village, Wichita. Ferne received her RN from St. Francis School of Nursing, retiring as the Charge Nurse of the newborn nursery at St. Joseph Hospital. Ferne was preceded in death by her husband Jay Paul Brooks, and brother Col. Billy Chance. She is survived by son Larry (Donna) Brooks of Centennial, CO, daughters Lynda (Scott) Yager of Santa Fe, NM, and Beverly Yankey of Berryton, KS; sister Merna Snay; grandchildren Paul Brooks, Denise Pitts, Garrett Yager, Alegra Corey, Kelsey Yankey, Lindsey Yankey, and Halsey Yankey, and great-grandchildren Kari, Jacob, Madison, Morgan, Liam, Isaac & Charlotte. Funeral service will be held at Resthaven Mortuary Chapel on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
