

Roedell, Floyd J., 89, of Wichita died on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at Wesley Hospital. Floyd’s Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, February 20, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway, Wichita. Private inurnment will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Floyd was born in Quinlan, Oklahoma to Frank and Addie (Robertson) Roedell. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Ollie Walls, Orpha George and Ona Biggers. He is survived by Mary Lou, his loving wife of 65 years; daughter Alison Sheehan of Prairie Village, KS; one sister, Opal Chenoweth of Mooreland, OK; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other dear friends and relatives. Floyd was a WWII Veteran who served in the Pacific Theater and seven more years in Army Reserves. He graduated from Oklahoman A & M College in Stillwater, OK in Civil Engineering. He retired as Director of Engineering and Planning at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport and then worked three years as Engineering Manager at BEC Engineers (a Boeing subsidiary). Among the volunteer work he did in the community, he was proud to serve 30 years in Downtown Lions Club. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the First United Methodist Church “Deferred Maintenance Fund” or donations to the 50/50 Sunday School Class, both at 330 N. Broadway, Wichita, KS, 67202.
