Born on May 12, 1955 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Forrest was a happy and risilient child. Growing up in the suburbs of Washington D.C. and Houston, Texas, he discovered and enjoyed rock music, the comedy of Monty Python, and the books of J.R.R. Tolkien. As a young man, Forrest traveled the country. As an adult, he appreciated the comfortable routines of being home with family. Forrest had a strong work ethic and made friends easily. In 2001 he moved to Kansas, and for over 10 years he worked for Salvation Army. An animal lover, with a sharp sense of humor, Forrest is remembered as a compassionate man with a strong and independent spirit.
Forrest is survived by his parents, William Gordon Prather and Ethel Fern (Kuykendall) Prather of Wichita, his younger brother Curtis William Prather of Arlington, Virginia, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who he loved very much.
In celebration of his life, his family is asking that donations be made in his name to the MDS Foundation (mds-foundation.org), to support the research of bone marrow diseases.
