Frances A. “Francie” Lewis, Francie was born September 13, 1949, oldest child of Charles F. Lewis and Seraphine R. Herman. She died unexpectedly on October 21. Isn’t that just like Francie to take off without telling anybody or saying goodbye? Francie grew up in Wichita, attended St. Patrick’s grade school and Mt. Carmel Academy. She was devoted to her Great Uncle Mark; he was an everlasting influence in her life. She worked at the family hardware store, Lewis Brothers’ Hardware, for over ten years. She was married to Glen Stubbs, who took her away from Wichita to Illinois, then later Ridgecrest, California. She loved Ridgecrest and decided to remain there after Glen’s death. Francie worked as a Community Development Technician in the Building Department for the city of Ridgecrest for 29 years, 2 months. All the contractors and real estate agents relied on Francie for information on properties. She made many dear friends and treasured her two cats, Bogey and Bacall. She volunteered for PACT (Police And Community Together) for over 20 years and was the head of the Child I.D. section for a while. Whatever Francie did, she did with gusto. Growing up, she was a synchronized swimmer, she took karate, did line dancing, played bridge and bunco, was a stamp collector, coin collector, and was very active in her community. She would stop the car to pick up trash along the road; she was very civic minded. Francie is survived by her brother Chuck (Irene), sisters Sherrie (George) Saunders of Lee’s Summit, MO, Pattie (Darryl) Knauff of Wichita, and Katie (Roger) Goodwin of Greenwood, AR. Funeral services were held in Ridgecrest. Graveside services on Saturday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 610 S. Vassar. Memorials to be sent to: PACT, 100 W. California Ave, Ridgecrest, CA 93555 Arrangements under the direction of Devorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita, KS.
