

Fred S. Mueller, 90, retired welder/sheet metal worker and 31 year member of Sheet Metal Worker’s Union #29, passed away October 10, 2015. Fred was born in Dodge City, KS to William Kirk and Eva Ruth (Smith) Mueller. He moved with his family to Leoti, KS where he went to school until he joined the Army in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II in England where he met and married his wife, Annie. They just celebrated 70 years of marriage in March. She survives of the home. He is also survived by son, John of Houston, TX, daughter, Susan (David) Schneweis of Lawrence, KS, four grandchildren, Derek Mueller, Brian Schneweis, Christopher Schneweis, and Stacey (Mueller) Ortiz; nine great grandchildren, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Vance, Madalyn, J.D., Matthew, Daniel, Leah, Nellie, and twin Great Great Granddaughters, Violet and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Maddie Mae, sister Alyce Mortimore, brothers, Billy Mueller, and Howard Mueller. Funeral service will be held at Resthaven Mortuary on Thursday, October 15 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Douglas County Visiting Nurses and Hospice Care at 200 Maine St. Ste C, Lawrence, KS 66044.
